The Club hosted the 11th International Squash 3’s event concurrently with the PSA 25s in September. This is a hugely successful event comprising of a series of matches over 3 days between teams of 3 players (hence the name) with a maximum of 4 in a squad.
This is one of the toughest events as teams have to play two and sometimes three matches in one day. There are Mens, Ladies, and Masters Categories attracting some very high level players from around the region including Singapore, China and Japan.
After a tough three days of squash, the team of Dragon Balls which included HKFC players Rudi Willemse and Eric Ho beat last year’s winners Perrier Sergio Tacchini KCC in the final.
For the ladies the KCC team beat the HKCC ladies A team. For the Masters the HKFC team “on a roll” beat the HKCC Masters to take the cup.
Player of the tournament was John Lau of the American Club.
With 39 teams in total this was a large event with all the organizers doing an excellent job to ensure it ran so smoothly. Prizes and an awards dinner were enjoyed by all after all the hard work on the squash court was completed. Thanks to Steve Cubbins from Squashsite who took some excellent photos.
The tournament just gets better year after year so everyone is already looking forward to next year’s installment.
