In November the annual World Cup Tournament was played where HKFC squash members can gain bragging rights to which is the best squash country of origin. There was a running format for the games which means that each player plays 7 highly charged three minute games against their opponents to gain as many points as possible. A total of 64 players participated in 8 teams representing England, Scotland, Hong Kong, France/Switzerland, North America, Australia/New Zealand, Europe and Asia.
Following 8 intensive rounds of competition, it was the newly featured Team France/Swiss that edged out the rest to win the regular tournament category with 485 points. Team North America put up a very good fight and lost by a mere 5 points at the end. Team England rounded off the top three a further five points behind Team North America. The handicap tournament was won by Team England with 608 points, beating Team Australia/New Zealand which scored 575 points. Winner of the individual Player with Most Points went to Tim Fan in both regular and handicap categories with 75 and 96 points, respectively.
Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all who participated and/or came to support the teams. My special thanks to Dave Murray who helped track down the scores throughout the tournament, and all who helped mark and time-keep. Without you my job would have been impossible.
